![]() When I was a child I loved both Easter and Christmas, but Christmas was my favorite! Why? Presents and fun traditions, of course! But now as an adult Easter is my favorite! Why? Because I love celebrating the RESURRECTION of Jesus! Yes, it’s important that He was born. It was also important that He died. But quite a few people have been born and then died. There’s only ONE who was resurrected! That is Jesus! And that changes everything! And here we are with Easter right around the corner. I want my heart to be more prepared for it, don’t you? Beginning Sunday, April 2, also known as Palm Sunday won’t you join many of us in daily readings of what took place this week in history? I have two suggestions on good content: 1) Print out this reading plan and read through the last week of Christ’s life from Matthew. Also included are some references to some of the prophecy fulfilled. Each day you’ll read a chapter of Matthew, beginning with chapter 21 on Palm Sunday and ending with chapter 28 on Easter Sunday, plus a prophecy from Isaiah. 2) Another way you can prepare your heart is to find an 8-day reading plan on the YouVersion Bible app on your phone. A couple I like: “Love to the Uttermost: Holy Week with John Piper” or “Bible Project Holy Week & Easter.” There’s also some great plans for Kids on there! No matter which reading you choose (why not do them all?), this is another great time to put into practice last Sunday’s Mini-Mission: “Work out your relationship with the Holy Spirit.” That might look like praying beforehand asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you read His words in the Bible. That might look like spending time listening to worship music and sitting in His presence before reading. That might look like acting on anything you feel He’s saying to you as you read. That might look like asking Him afterwards something like, “Now what do I do with what I read?” and then acting on it. Alright, friends: Let’s do this! Let’s celebrate our Savior well! -Monica Schlange Comments are closed.
