What's New At Grace

The Greatest Gift a Dad can give...

6/13/2023

The greatest gift a father can give to his children… What is it?  I will give you a hint, it come from Genesis 22 and is a story about a father (Abraham) and his son (Issac). If you read it, you may find yourself confused, how can a father putting his son on an alter as a sacrifice to God be the greatest gift he can give him?  That would be a great question and I encourage you to join us Sunday to find out the answer.

On a day traditionally filled with silly aprons, giant neck ties, handmade crafts or some special multi tool, we celebrate our fathers.  This Sunday is Father’s Day and we aim to talk about it.  This Sunday we challenge you to not be part of a negative statistic.  While Mother’s Day is typically one of the most attended Sundays of the year, Father’s Day is traditionally one of the least attended Sundays of the year.  Last year I challenged our families to not be part of the negative statistic and you Fathers showed up to church.  This year, I hope you are challenged in the same way, to lead your family well by bringing them to church.  Who else could you invite?  Is it your neighbor?  Father?  Grandparent?  Friend? Coworker? If you need to add some spice to your invitation, we will have Dad’s Rootbeers on ice under the tent for the first 150 fathers that join us for worship.  My hope is that there will be none left because at least 150 dads were challenged to join us this Sunday to be celebrated.

What can you expect this Sunday?  An uplifting time of singing God’s praises, a video to laugh with and celebrate our dads, a message to challenge us all to prioritize the voices of people in our life.  Come and celebrate with us!
