Take your wife on a date and answers some or all of these questions. Please enjoy some of the answers provided by George and Helen Hill as you read through them.
Number of years together? 61 years Helen was a sophomore, George was a senior in high school.
Number of years married? 57 Years
Where did you go on your first date?
George Hill: Lakeport football game at the fairgrounds in Lakeport. I was scouting because they would play them the following week. We borrowed a truck from a friend of mine who also liked Helen because my truck doors needed to be tied shut with a rope and I wanted to make a good impression.
Helen Hill: What George said is all correct, we went and chased rabbits in the truck after the game was over.
Did you parents approve of your relationship?
H: They liked him more than they like me. They had set rules saying that I would not date until I was 16 years old. When George came around when I was 15, they almost insisted that I date him even though I was not old enough yet.
What is your all time favorite date that you have gone on?
G + H: 50th Anniversary tour/trip to Alaska. Seeing Alaska by plane, train, boat and car.
Do you have a song that you would say is “your song?” What song did you dance for your first dance at your wedding?
G + H: No particular song is our song, we are not musical people. We did not have a first dance at our wedding. Our wedding was very small. We invited mostly immediate family. Others came that were not even invited and my sister made a cake and we went back to the house and ate it.
What is your favorite meal that your spouse makes?
G: Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and corn. She just gets the pre-cooked chicken now and we just heat it up, but it’s still good.
H: Fried potatoes and ham.
Do you know the name of your spouse’s scent? If you had to name what your spouse smells like what would you name their scent.
G: Channel #5!, If I had to name her scent I would name it a 10 pound bass, not because she smells like fish, but because a 10 pound bass is desirable and she is desirable. After some convincing, I guess roses.
H: After shave but I don’t remember the name. It is by Gillette. I would call his scent: Fishy Man. George fishes a lot and often smells of fish stink.
What is one place you have both always wanted to go?
G + H: Fiji, we love the outdoors, the sun and the beach. Not the humidity though.
What prayers are you praying for your spouse?
G: That she live longer than me, a pain free long life.
H: That he live longer than me. For a long life and safety.
What is your favorite thing about your spouse?
G: Helen is loving and kind. We love playing cards together.
