A horse drawn carriage, a limousine, the red carpet, all of these are part of a grand entrance. What does a young donkey, peoples coats and palm branches have in common with the list above? They were part of the grandest entrance to date! Jesus rode on a young donkey, people placed their coats on the ground, they waved palm branches and shouted “hosanna!” The humblest grand entrance for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This weekend marks the beginning of Passion Week. The week begins with Jesus just outside of Jerusalem getting ready to enter and ends with Jesus rising from the dead. Don’t you want your friends to hear about these events? Invite them! This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the kids will be singing in both services. Next Sunday is Easter Sunday and we will have three services that people can come to and an egg hunt in between the 9am and 10:45am services. In between that is our Good Friday Service at 6:30pm.
All four authors of the gospels have gaps in the time between main events. All four authors slow down and write in great detail about Passion Week. God did not want us to miss the intricacies of how Jesus’ death and resurrection makes for a just and loving God. Take some time this week to read through these accounts in preparation for Passion week, pray for those that will attend a service, and invite someone to join you as you celebrate Easter.
See You Sunday!
