Mother’s day is coming quickly. Are you looking for a funny card? What about one with pretty flowers? How about one with a poem that is sure to make her cry? Maybe she is an animal lover, so something with cats, dogs or ducks is the “perfect” card.
If you stood in that card aisle today and couldn’t find one that fits, maybe it’s because the standard you’re measuring by is wrong.
The “perfect mom” isn’t the one who never fails.
She’s …
… the one who tries to keep it all together but needs even more help from Jesus to do so.
… the one who keeps turning back to Jesus even when she doesn’t understand where He’s leading her.
… the one who asks for God’s mercy and grace and tries to be quick to give it to others.
… the one who works at showing her children what it looks like to depend on God.
… the one who falls in her walk with the Lord, but gets back up again and again, because she knows she’s not alone.
… the one who asks for forgiveness and grace from those who saw the “imperfect” moment.
That kind of motherhood may not be printed in gold script or beautiful calligraphy—but it is written into eternity.
