The Open Arms ministry volunteers, along with other local churches, medical organizations, and several homeless shelter resource offices, gather weekly to pray and serve hot meals to any hungry man, woman, or child. Through these collaborative efforts, we also offer basic medical care, hot showers, hygiene kits, haircuts, and clean clothing. While meeting some very basic needs, we get to extend a listening ear and a comforting word. In doing so, we are given opportunities to share the Gospel and our love of Jesus Christ.
Our overall purpose is threefold:
1 - Love each other so that others will know we are Christ's disciples.
John 13:34-35
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
2 - Not that our service is counted as if we are serving Christ, but to serve Christ by serving others.
Matthew 25:40
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
3 - to reconcile the world to God by building relationships that allow us to share the great things Christ has done for us.
Corinthians 5:20
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Your generosity through any donation will be greatly appreciated and used for those without secured shelter.
