New Women’s Bible Studies

Posted Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Proverbs 31:30 says “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”  In Hebrews 4:12 we read “For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two edged sword.” And Jesus says in John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Whether you feel like you have your life all together or you feel like you’re living in chaos...Whether you are lonely or feel you are surrounded by people who love you… Whether you are retired or are working around the clock; have known the Lord most of your life, or just recently heard about Him; are struggling greatly or have it all together… YOU need to be plugged into the Word!

And what better way to be in the Word than through a women’s Bible Study? We have one just for you starting up this fall! We love you. We’ve been praying for you. We want you to be a part of this! Won’t you join us? It’ll change your life!

Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith

Meets weekly: Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00pm

Starts Wednesday, Sept 29th

At Grace Church in the Youth Room (Lower Level of the gym building)

Laurie Leon will be facilitating this in-depth women’s Bible study written by Beth Moore. It’s based on Isaiah 43:10 and explores what it means not only "to believe in God" but "to believe Him." The bride of Jesus Christ in our generation is nearly paralyzed by unbelief. God is calling His bride to a fresh and lavish anointing of faith. Through studying the lives of Abraham, Moses, and others as examples of persons who believed God, Beth Moore encourages women to deepen their own trust in God and receive a fresh word from Him.

A Note from Beth Moore:
"God confronted me with the truth that though I had believed in Himfor many years, I had hardly begun to believe Him.He made something clear to me that He has sent me forth to say to you: God is so much more than we have yet acknowledged and experienced. He is capable of tremendously more than we have witnessed. I have become utterly convinced that we see so little primarily because we believe Him for so little. Here's the great news: God wants to change all that!"

Your commitment level: Each of the 10 weeks includes 5 days a week of personal interactive study. When we come together on Wednesday nights, please arrive promptly as we will be watching a 1 hour teaching segment by Beth Moore as well as discussing questions from the previous week’s study. This will change your life!

Childcare is NOT provided at this time.

Cost is $16 for your Member Handbook. Please sign up by Sept 12 so we can order your Member Handbook. You may sign up on Sunday mornings at the Women’s Ministry table, or by calling Laurie at 262-1802.

Feel free to call Laurie if you have any questions.

Moms In Christ

Meets Monthly: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 9:00-11:00am

At Grace Church, in the Green Room

Starts Sept 15th

Moms in Christ is a group of young Moms and mentor Moms who get together once a month to encourage each other in our walks with the Lord and to fellowship together. We are very excited to see where the Lord will lead MIC this year! After a lot of positive feedback last year when we changed things up, this year we will continue on that path as we listen to speakers each month instead of going through books. We will be discussing with each other the many responsibilities the Lord has put before us as His daughters, being wives to our husbands, and of course mothers to our children. We hope you can be with us!

Need:We are looking for a Child Care Coordinator to organize the child care schedule. This person would be in charge of contacting volunteers and coordinating the schedule for our once a month 2-hour meeting. We also need volunteers to provide child care, Mentor Moms within our study, and speakerseach month to discuss how God has prepared and provided for you as a Mom. Please, if you can serve in any of these ways or if you have any questions, contact Meredith Wiser at 485-3030 or Margaret Moser at 277-0383.

 Child care IS provided!

For more info contact Meredith or Margaret at the numbers above.

The Frazzled Female

Meets Weekly: Tuesdays, 6:00-7:15am

At Perkos Restaurant in Lakeport

7-week Group, starts Sept 14

Monica Schlange will be facilitating this group as they go through the book “Frazzled Female” by Cindi Wood. “The Frazzled Female” is a resource designed especially for women. By sitting at the feet of Jesus and absorbing His teaching, women will be able to deal with essential issues like managing their time, getting along with difficult people, taking time for themselves, and even organizing their lives.

This thought-provoking, yet light-hearted, study helps women discover practical, biblical help to confront issues that otherwise leave them discouraged. It helps participants develop biblical skills to handle stressful situations; grow in their relationship with Jesus; and ultimately experience peace, joy, and a saner lifestyle.

Commitment Level: Each week women will have 5 days of study to do, approximately 15-20 minutes long (or more if you’d like!), as well as a verse to memorize each week and optional “defrazzler” activites and weekend studies. Please plan to be very punctual to our weekly meetings as we will have limited time. Also, please plan to purchase a meal or beverage each week as we are meeting in a restaurant.

Child care is NOT provided. Cost is $10 for your book. Please sign up by Sept. 4th. We only have room for 5 more ladies, so be sure to sign up early!

Vacation Bible School 2010 Wrap-up

Posted Saturday, July 17th, 2010

This year's Vacation Bible School was all about being a part of God's circus. The children were taught that they don't need to do anything to be a part of God's family--we get to be a part because of His grace, and He loves us just the way we are!

This was the BIGGEST VBS we can remember, with 242 different kids attending at some point during the week. Even more exciting were the 91 decisions for Christ, and the $950 raised for the Bible School in India.

Thanks to all the helpers who pitched in to make this happen. See you next year!

You can see more VBS 2010 photos here.

New Website Launched

Posted Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Our new website is now live! We want to use every tool at our disposal to "Know Christ and make Him known" and we're excited about the capabilities the new site offers.

We're still entering content into the "Get Connected" pages, but for now be sure to check out the Calendar of upcoming events, and listen in to the sermon archive if you miss a Sunday.

God is blessing our church with many new visitors, so one of the big focuses of the website redesign was to help visitors feel comfortable by giving them the information they're looking for. We've got basic information on the "I'm New Here" page, with more to come.

We've also set up a Facebook page for Grace Church, so be sure to "Like" it so you can see Grace Church news from within Facebook.

We hope to use email to communicate news more effectively, so sign up to the email news list using the form at the bottom of the page. You can always unsubscribe easily in the future if you'd like, and our feelings won't be hurt!

If you have any questions or comments on the new site, feel free to direct them to our webmaster Eric Schlange at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Have a great day!

Epic Midnight Madness II Is Coming!

Posted Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Our first Epic Midnight Madness was a huge success, but it's going to pale in comparison to Epic Midnight Madness II: Out of Control! We're going to have FOUR bounce houses, dodgeball, wiffleball, bungee runs, bed races, barrel racing (not the kind with the horses, but the kind with people stuffed into barrels and rolled around!) and lots of food!

Ticket cost is $10 at the door. All Junior High and High Schoolers are welcome, so if you're going into 6th grade, or just graduated from high school this year (or you're somewhere in between) you can come! RSVP on the Facebook event page if you haven't already.

Adults--we need team leaders, kitchen help, cleanup crew members, security workers, and more. Interested in helping out? Contact the church office, or call Boone Bridges at 349-6464.
